YOUR ROLE You will take part to the development of new technology platforms for MEMS sensor products following the different phases from feasibility to prototyping, from qualification to transfer to manufacturing and industrialization. You will be part of to a cross functional team that will contribute to innovate ST technology and products portfolio and consolidate and improve STMicroelectronics leadership in the MEMS market. As a part of this team you will be responsible of: * Driving the development and implementation of new MEMS technologies ensuring their adherence to target performances; * Leading or co-leading the process integration activities to build the technology platform; * Performing Inline and Electrical Data Analysis during the development stage; * Planning and characterizing R&D trials with other team functions; * Managing R&D Prototypes Diffusion; * Leading Problem Solving Tasks during the development and industrialization phase. YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCES * Master’s degree in engineering or physics * 2-5 yrs in MEMS/Semiconductor Field * Basic Semiconductor Fabrication Processes knowledge * English business proficiency * Teamwork skills * Creativity. The expected salary range for this position is € 42,000 – €50,000 gross annual salary (RAL), plus variable pay relevant for the role. In accordance with the EU Pay Transparency Directive and applicable Italian legislation, this compensation range has been determined based on objective, gender-neutral criteria, including job responsibilities, required skills, relevant experience, qualifications, and market benchmarks. Placement within the range will depend on the candidate’s profile and demonstrated competencies. The final offer will be made in compliance with the applicable National Collective Bargaining Agreement (CCNL), where relevant, and our internal compensation policies. We are seeking a highly skilled MEMS Device/Design engineer to join our MEMS R&D team. This role emphasizes MEMS device engineering, while maintaining strong engagement in device design and performance optimization for MEMS devices such as inertial and pressure sensors. The ideal candidate will work at the intersection of fabrication processes, device modeling and validation to deliver high-performance MEMS products. This role will be based out of ST's office in Chandler Arizona. Key Responsibilities * Support device/technology integration and design to ensure manufacturability, scalability, and high yield * Establish and maintain technology design rules and ensure alignment with design requirements * Drive iterative cycles between simulation, fabrication, and characterization * Incorporate process variation and non-idealities into device modeling and design decisions * Perform simulation and/or analysis using tools such as JMP, ANSYS, COMSOL, and MATLAB/Simulink Required Qualifications * MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field * 10+ years of industry experience in MEMS, with focus on MEMS device, technology integration, design and/or interactions * Proven track record in developing and transferring MEMS design and technologies into production * Solid understanding of MEMS device physics * Experience working across design–process interfaces and manufacturability optimization * Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in cross-disciplinary teams Preferred Experience * Background in device/technology development, MEMS design, yield improvement, and/or reliability engineering * Proficiency in data analysis and/or multi-physics simulation tools (JMP, COMSOL, ANSYS, etc.) * Knowledge of DOE, SPC, and statistical analysis for process optimization At STMicroelectronics, base salary is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Job title: Lithography Process Engineer Process Development: * Operate and optimize Photolithography equipment for Canon i-Line Stepper Systems, by defining and tuning process recipes (focus, exposure dose, alignment, etc.) * Hands-on DNS track experience to support lithography process setup, development, optimization, and tool performance improvement activities. * Perform routine process monitoring and troubleshooting on Canon i-Line steppers, including tool qualification, SPC tracking, and defect analysis, ensuring stable and repeatable process performance. * Analyze process and metrology data to identify improvement opportunities, drive root-cause analysis, and implement robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to enhance yield, throughput, and process stability. * Assist in MEMS technology development, focusing on the setup and optimization of Photolithography, Screen Printing, and Bonding processes in a semiconductor environment. * Assist in the development, characterization, and optimization of Photolithography, Screen Printing, and Bonding processes for semiconductor manufacturing. 2\. Process Monitoring and Control: * Monitor lithography process performance to ensure consistent output, high yield, and stable operation. * Use DNS track knowledge to support process monitoring, track troubleshooting, and day-to-day manufacturing stability. * Perform routine process qualifications, tool matching, SPC monitoring, and defect analysis. * Troubleshoot process excursions, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions. * Work closely with equipment engineers to ensure tool readiness, uptime, and process stability. 3\. Data Analysis and Problem Solving * Analyze process, metrology, and defect data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities. * Lead or support root-cause analysis for process-related issues and yield loss. * Use data-driven methods to improve process stability, throughput, and overall manufacturing performance. * Provide technical recommendations based on experimental results and production data. 4\. Documentation and Reporting * Maintain accurate records of process parameters, experiments, qualifications, and results. * Prepare technical reports, summaries, and presentations for engineering reviews and management updates. * Update process specifications, operating procedures, and control plans as required. * Ensure proper documentation of process changes and lessons learned. 5\. Cross-Functional Collaboration * Work closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, production, quality, equipment, and integration. * Support shift engineers and technicians as needed to resolve process or tool-related issues. * Participate in technical discussions, problem-solving meetings, and improvement initiatives. * Contribute to smooth process integration and technology transfer activities. 6\. Continuous Improvement * Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield, efficiency, quality, and cycle time. * Explore opportunities for process automation and smarter process control. * Support lean manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives in the lithography area. * Drive standardization and best practice sharing across tools and teams. Required Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree or higher in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Microelectronics, or a related field. * Experience in Semiconductor Lithography Process Engineering. * Understanding of photolithography or bonding principle and semiconductor process. Knowledge of EKRA printing and bonding processes will be considered an advantage. * Hands-on experience with photolithography equipment (Track: DNS/TEL, Stepper: Canon, Aligner: EVG/SUSS), Screen printing (EKRA) and Bonding (EVG) equipment is highly desirable. * Understanding of lithography fundamentals, process windows, alignment, overlay, exposure control, and defect mechanisms. * Experience in process monitoring, SPC, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. * Experience supporting tool qualification, process transfer, or technology ramp-up. * Exposure to inline process integration and yield improvement projects. * Good communication, documentation, and presentation skills. The ideal candidate has at least five years of experience as an inertial MEMS designer and holds a PhD in MEMS design or manufacturing, or at least seven years of experience as an inertial MEMS designer and holds a degree in mechanical engineering, physical engineering, or electronic engineering. The candidate demonstrates expertise in MEMS sensors, including design principles, simulation tools, and instruments used for sensor validation. Basic knowledge of MEMS technology, inertial sensor architectures, and sensor calibration and characterization is required. Proficiency with finite element method (FEM) simulations and MATLAB® is required. YOUR ROLE The role is aimed at accelerating the definition and the implementation of IC in MEMS solutions through the development of innovative and optimized architectures. The requested figure is represented by a brilliant system architect able to propose ideas and design solutions in the context of analog front end for inertial MEMS. The activities will be focused on architectural study and system definition, strongly interacting with other departments. Candidate’s key role is based on the translation from system-level specification to block level specification, developing models to predict system perfomances, following transistor-level implementation and all simulation/ verification activities. The candidate will work also closely to the layout engineer to drive top level implementation. He/She will participate to the evaluation and characterization of the followed products to verify the functionality and the adherence of the developed models vs the actual silicon performances. Technical skills and communicative attitude are key ingredients to work in a team from the product specification to the product industrialization. YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCES * Master’s degree in electronic engineering. * The candidate has at least 5 years experience in analog electronics design and familiarity with all the industrialization processes and debug/char activities. * Good knowledge of low power and low noise design techniques. * Good knowledge of Spice-based tools and Mixed signal simulation environment. * Good knowledge of analog blocks modeling (veriloga/system verilog real number). * Deep knowledge of system architecture in the sensor’s field. * MEMS knowledge is a strong plus.
