    Job Description: Your Impact Are you a researcher in industry or academia looking to advance your career and work on technology that will shape the future of defence? If you have a STEM PhD and five years UK residency, w e are looking for talented Scientists and Engineers with experience in research and collaboration to join us at Leonardo in Luton in a predominantly office and laboratory-based role. We are not expecting you to have domain knowledge of electronic warfare systems, or significant experience in engineering. What we are looking for are scientists and engineers looking to build their technical knowledge through training, team working, and one-to-one mentoring. ​ What you'll do as a Research Scientist Applied research: Early research looking into exploiting new technologies or concepts High-level design: Understanding the impact of design decisions on performance Low-level design: Detailed design, prototyping and optimisation of a particular solution using expertise within their technical domain We need talented scientists and engineers to take early concepts from a variety of sources and turn them into working solutions. You do not need a background in engineering to make a difference. Our System Engineers predominantly come from science backgrounds. Many of these people at Leonardo have PhDs/EngDs from a diverse range of research domains across STEM. We will support you in your technical and professional development whatever your background, and provide challenging technical work to allow you to excel. Examples of Work Contribute or lead an early concept study investigating whether new types of algorithm could improve the detection of threats at range Support the development and implementation of data fusion across multiple sensor types Develop simulators used in supporting test and validation of processing solutions What you'll bring A PhD, EngD or other relevant research experience within a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths subject Experience of theoretical or applied research in an academic or business environment Experience of collaborating with others either within your research group or wider afield A drive for continuously improvement of your own skills and knowledge A methodical approach to solving large complex problems Experience in planning, leading and overseeing technical research or development tasks An appreciation of the Systems Engineering process Coding is central to our day to day work. You should have some experience of using a programming language to solve problems or develop models.     Job Description: Your Impact Within our Radar and Advanced Targeting Systems (RATS) line of business, we deliver world-class innovative multi-role surveillance radars and countermeasure systems that help protect people and nations. We are seeking a Lead Safety Engineer to join our Design Integrity function, to support the Test Engineering department. In this key role, you will ensure that robust safety governance is applied across all activities, meeting both internal standards and external legal and regulatory requirements. As a Lead Safety Engineer, you will lead on test safety and product test equipment safety, taking ownership from early concept through to certification. By embedding safety, environmental, and regulatory considerations throughout the entire lifecycle, you will help ensure our solutions are safe, compliant, and delivered to the highest standards. Please note the role is working on a hybrid basis (a minimum of three days per week onsite) from either our Edinburgh or Newcastle sites. Regular travel between both sites will be required. What you will do as Lead Safety Engineer: Collaborate with Systems Engineering and Sector Engineering Safety Managers to ensure project safety requirements are achieved. Define Product Safety and Environmental requirements (product, contractual, legal and regulatory). Participate in the planning and execution of test programmes to address design safety considerations. Ensure test equipment safety certification (jigs, fixtures, electrical, electronic, optical and RF test equipment and facilities) and readiness for test, supporting Declaration of Design and Performance compliance. Support lifecycle readiness reviews including Design Certification Reviews. Provide independent assessment through Product Design Reviews. Provide specialist Product Safety and Environmental guidance within Test Engineering. What you’ll bring Ideally Chartered Engineer status, and a 2:1 or higher in a relevant engineering or science-based honours degree. Experience applying safety tools and techniques within Electronics or Avionics disciplines, including Hazard Log Management, Hazard Identification, Functional Failure Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Risk Assessment and ALARP justifications. Knowledge of electronic testing standards and compliance requirements. Experience in Integration, Test, Evaluation and Acceptance processes for complex systems. Experience supporting certification to RTCA/DO-178C Level C and/or RTCA/DO-254 Level C, or equivalent in adjacent regulated sectors. About Your Role Within the Process & Chemical Construction team, you will oversee the construction of Process (Chemicals, gases, water) facilities and contribute to defining strategy across the Company's various projects. We are seeking someone who can quickly ramp up on our product offerings, client engagement model and renewal processes, whilst building out our global renewals team. You will play a critical role in supporting our customer success and revenue organizations, and your work will directly impact our corporate goals. This is a unique opportunity to build a global renewals team, whilst implementing best practice processes working with our sales leadership team. This position requires a strong knowledge of systems and process selling, the ability to manage and close large volumes of opportunities. The Renewals leader will collaborate within Revenue and Customer Success, Marketing and Legal to maximize the renewal success while looking for additional opportunities for upselling additional revenue.
