The role may involve a blended hybrid working model, with a mixture of working from home and working on site at one of our Leonardo offices to ensure close collaboration with the wider team and with our customers. Leonardo UK is seeking a Senior Application Engineer to join the Cyber & Security Solutions Division team. This role is focused on delivering, maintaining, and improving platform and systems engineering solutions that underpin critical defence, government and public sector services. What you will do as a Senior Application Engineer Support, configure, and enhance ITSM platforms (e.g. Jira Service Management) that underpin service delivery and operational workflows Deliver engineering tasks within defined work packages, ensuring alignment with user needs, security requirements, and service-level objectives. Contribute to application architecture, integration, and lifecycle activities under the guidance of senior engineers. Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, service management, and business teams to resolve technical issues. Mentor junior engineers and specialists, supporting their development and promoting best practices. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, documentation, and knowledge sharing. Ensure compliance with engineering governance, ITSM processes, and cyber security policies. What you’ll bring Solid experience in supporting, configuring, and enhancing ITSM platforms (e.g. Jira Service Management or similar) Ability to solve moderately complex application-related issues and contribute to secure, scalable solutions. Understanding of application lifecycle management, integration patterns, and secure-by-design principles. Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering and business teams. A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing. Core areas (must have): Enterprise application support, configuration, and enhancement ITSM platform configuration and support (e.g. Jira Service Management or similar) Configuration of workflows across incident, problem, and change management processes Integration of ITSM platforms with monitoring, identity, and automation tooling Application lifecycle management (deployment, maintenance, upgrades, decommissioning) Integration patterns and identity management (e.g. SSO, RBAC, API integration) Secure-by-design principles and application security practices Technical problem solving and resolution of application-related issues Collaboration with engineering, service management, and business teams Experience working within ITIL-aligned service environments Delivery within enterprise / secure / defence environments Desirable: Jira Service Management (or similar ITSM platforms) ITIL process design and optimisation API-led automation and workflow orchestration Integration with alerting, monitoring, and incident management systems Reporting, dashboards, and service performance metrics Experience integrating with enterprise services (Active Directory, identity platforms) Exposure to DevOps / CI-CD practices Experience working in secure or regulated environments Security Clearance This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) will apply. This role requires Developed Vetting (DV) clearance prior to starting.     Job Description: We are seeking a Senior Ground Segment Engineer with strong engineering skills and experience to support our customer EUMETSAT for our upcoming project based in Darmstadt. As a full member of our proposed team, you will support technical project management delivery across multiple concurrent TSS division projects (I2D, SGS, DSA), ensuring schedule, budget, and scope compliance throughout the full project lifecycle. The position is full-time and permanent with the earliest starting date of 1st April 2026 - 1st June 2026 (flexible) Key Responsibilities You will be responsible for the tasks but not limited to: Prepare and maintain Project Charters, PMPs, WBS, resource and budget plans, and network diagrams Manage project risk registers; conduct risk identification, analysis, and mitigation Support design reviews, verification reviews, and formal milestone meetings Coordinate with EUMETSAT OPS/PRD/TSS stakeholders across multiple concurrent projects Ensure compliance with PMI PMBOK, PRINCE2, and EUMETSAT governance processes Essential Skills and Qualifications 5+ years in aerospace/satellite project management, preferably in ground segment upgrade projects PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent certification strongly preferred Experience with MS Project, JIRA, and configuration management tools Knowledge of ground segment monitoring, IT & site infrastructure services (compute, storage, network) Desirable Skills Passionate about spacecraft operations and engineering. System-level knowledge of ground and spacecraft (sub)systems; Your hands-on experience with several platforms (sub)systems and ground systems (in particular the mission control system) will support and push our team to the next level.
