YOUR ROLE You will be responsible and focus on improving tool performance and availability, in charge of maintenance, diagnosing failures and implementing effective solutions to meet uptime requirements. Responsibilities * Maintain equipment performance in cleanroom environment for quality production. * Continually improve tool uptime availability, drive defect reduction and enhance hardware capability. * Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans to ensure equipment reliability and improve MTBC. * Analyze FDC data to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for optimization. * Provide On Job Training for junior engineers on equipment operation and maintenance. * Drive cost reduction projects. * Work with equipment vendors, Hookup and Facility Team to perform tool relocation, startup and commissioning. * Communicate with equipment vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues as needed. * Maintain work environment 5S. YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCES * A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering or a related field. * Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Equipment Engineer in Thin film (PVD) module. * Growth mindset with a passion for continuous learning. * Strong analytical, logical and critical thinking skills. * Effective communicator, able to collaborate across all levels. * Proficiency in data analysis tools and methodologies. * Experience working in PVD Endura, LAM Sabre (Cu Plating), SPTS Delta/Sigma, ULVAC SME-200, Novellus Altus, Centura WxZ, P5000 Chambers.     Job Description: Telespazio Germany is looking to for an experienced Space Link Communication Engineer to expand our on-site presence in the area of Ground segment system Engineering and support our client ESA for their cutting-edge ground station network ESTRACK. The future post holder will participate in the preparation of ESTRACK for upcoming missions and support to the flying ones in aspects related to the ground station engineering and space link communications and tracking, approached from a system perspective. Responsibilities / Tasks The daily tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Active participation in ground station developments, i.e. new antenna projects and upgrade of existing antennas, by providing support to the definition of technical specifications and statement of works, participation to procurement in the role of expert, support to design reviews as well as support to factory and site acceptance tests and supporting preventive, predictive and corrective maintenances. Design and documentation creation and review (Statement of Work, Technical Specifications, technical trade-offs, Technical Notes) Monitoring of ground station data provision and archiving, providing performance assessments in response to operational incidents. Deployment, testing and validation of technical solutions in ESA operational sites. Support to operations during critical phases. Monitoring of applicable scientific and technological trends and maintaining state-of-the-art expertise in the specific technical domain Active participation in technology development activities, i.e. support to the definition of requirements, support in preliminary prototype and bread boarding activities, support to the evaluation of achievements. Active participation in studies of new operational concepts and techniques (e.g. use of weather forecast for link optimisation) Support to development of link budget tools Space link performance monitoring and assessment. ESTRACK data management: supervision of production, archiving and dissemination of ESTRACK sub-systems data. Qualifications Essential Skills University degree in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunication, or similar Knowledge in the ground station domain: ground stations architecture and design Experience in: ground station systems engineering. development and upgrade of complex systems, including testing and validation communication systems involving e.g. modulation, demodulation, coding techniques, signal/data processing. TT&C systems and their interfaces. Experience of programming: e.g. Python, C++, Matlab. Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Good planning and organisational skills Ability to work independently to multi-task efficiently and setting priorities Availability to travel (depending on mission, working across global sites as required) Desirable Skills Familiarity with the ESTRACK and ESOC environment: processes, configuration control Familiarity with radio propagation over different media. Your Role * Own and sustain LPI/LPT/ES2 SMIF loadports (and related front‑end wafer handling interfaces) to meet fab uptime, reliability, and quality targets. * Plan, execute, and optimize preventive maintenance (PM), calibration, and spare parts strategy for SMIF/FOUP loadports. * Provide advanced troubleshooting for SMIF issues (mapping errors, ID read fails, door open/close faults, clamp/alignment issues, interlock & safety alarms). * Explore, develop, and implement internal repair capabilities for critical SMIF modules and parts to reduce cost, lead time, and vendor dependency. * Monitor and improve equipment KPIs (availability, MTBF, MTTR, mis‑load/mis‑map rate, alarm rate) using data and logs. * Lead continuous improvement projects on SMIF loadports (reliability upgrades, HW/SW changes, part life extension, cycle‑time and ergonomics improvements). * Coordinate new tool/loadport introductions and modifications: installation, SAT/OQ, integration tests with EFEM/tool & factory systems. * Ensure SMIF loadports comply with EHS, SEMI standards (SMIF/FOUP, E84, etc.) and 5S, incorporating “Safety by Design” in all changes. * Create and maintain SOPs, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and train/coach technicians on SMIF loadport operation and maintenance. * Act as primary technical contact for loadport vendors (and internal stakeholders), managing escalations, upgrades, and service activities. Your Skills & Experiences * Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation/Control Engineering or related field. * Experience in semiconductor front‑end or automated wafer handling, with direct exposure to SMIF loadports or EFEMs. * Strong understanding of mechatronic systems used in loadports: motors, drives, sensors, mapping mechanisms, clamps, door/openers, safety circuits. * Hands‑on experience troubleshooting SMIF handling issues (mapping, ID, alignment, door & interlock problems) is a strong plus. * Familiarity with SEMI standards and interfaces relevant to SMIF (e.g., SMIF specs, E84 handshake; SECS/GEM exposure is a plus). * Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical/pneumatic schematics, and vendor manuals for loadports. * Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, using data, logs, and methods such as 5‑Why, FMEA, Pareto to eliminate chronic SMIF issues. * Good communication and teamwork skills; able to work closely with production, process, automation, maintenance, and equipment vendors. * Willingness to work in a cleanroom environment, support shift/on‑call needs, and participate in vendor trainings when required.
