SENIOR ENGINEER - TEST & FINISHING EQUIPMENT JOB PURPOSE This position is responsible for coordination with Engineers and Technicians to ensure on-time resolution of problems utilizing process and equipment engineering expertise at area of assignment in Assembly area such as WB, DB, dispensing, trim & form, component mount (SMT) at all times. He is also responsible for equipment qualification/upgrades needed for future products and provides innovative solutions for machine improvement. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 1- SUPPORT / MAINTENANCE To achieve objectives in terms of quality, cost, uptime and delivery * Analyses and give timely alerts in case of unsolved critical problems and proposes the solution and appropriated resources. * Continuous equipment performance improvement. * Provide Technical support to Operation on major equipment down * Spare parts repairs and rework and work arounds if needed. 2- EQUIPMENT QUALIFICATION AND UPGRADES To meet time to market of new and transferred products. * Set up and ensure new equipment is ready on time for Production * PCMS / EQR report * System Enrollment: IEDB, FW2, CMMS/EIC/EMCS * Connectivity: IP/Port activation, Nozomi, MT machine Pairing, Machine configuration for SECS GEMS and sealing. * Evaluates and implements equipment upgrades 3- PROJECT MANAGEMENT To meet time to market of new and transferred products. * Manages/Involvement in Task forces focused on specific topics. * Works on and/or leads specific programs such as Capacity and Capability Improvement Program, Cost reduction, etc * Equipment Plant Champion Technical Community * Works on Special Projects like Automation, Robotics, Software for System/machine improvements 4- TRAINING/BENCHMARKING To adapt to new technology needs of Assembly * Trains the engineers, technicians and operators. * Attends professional seminars to benchmark and shares best known methods. * Interfaces with local service engineers * Benchmarking/evaluation of new equipment 5- SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT, SECURITY, AND GOOD HOUSEKEEPING (As needed/Daily) To ensure compliance to applicable rules and regulations Disseminates, explains and ensures compliance with rules and regulations on safety, health, environment, good housekeeping, and security in the area of responsibility to ensure that applicable rules and regulations are understood and implemented NECESSARY CONTACTS TO DO THE JOB: INTERNAL 1. Daily: Manufacturing (Production, Process, Quality, Logistics) – operations review; Equipment/Sustaining – functional directives 2. Quarterly/Yearly: Equipment vendors/suppliers – reviews/surveys/information SPECIFICITY AND COMPLEXITY OF THE PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENT Outline the marketing, technical or organizational challenges which differentiate this job from similar positions. Capable of handling multiple activities that involves multifunctional work re (TNF) quiring diverse knowledge on the following: 1. Equipment Set Up and or Repair activity related to Assembly Equipment such as Wirebond, Diebond, dispensing, trimming & forming, component mount (SMT). 2. Resolving process issues related to equipment contribution. 3. Technical knowledge needed for new and complex products that must be supported in a fast phase 4. Equipment planning and execution of improvement programs and cost control on maintenance spending 5. Planning and procurement of equipment/upgrades kits aligned with new technologies. 6. Continuous interaction with ST counterparts, suppliers/vendors, internal customers, etc.., for functional reasons, negotiations and updates. Ensure robust quality, performance, cost and time trade-offs are undertaken and then to establish the technical solution coherent with the agreed budgets and timescales Chair design reviews on Products, Systems and Services to ensure they are technically sound and compliant with the Company’s approach to lifecycle management Provide technical direction, control, evaluation and recommendations with respect to risks and opportunities Ensure a high-level strategy for requirements matched to traceable evidence is set in place and executed consistently across the products and projects Lead and Mentor the technical team to enable a cost-effective design programme and product solution results Manage and communicate issues and opportunities to the engineering management, and design integrity group Define strategic capability improvements and cost versus performance initiatives, working with colleagues to generate development roadmaps What you will bring You will have proven experience in a similar senior role and a solid working knowledge Electronic and Optical systems. Essential Experience: A strong background in development of complex products Experience of working with Requirements, Test Qualification and Acceptance strategies. Experience of managing the Design Standard and associated Configuration Management. Experience in gaining Design Certification and Customer Acceptance. Have the ability to produce and develop innovative technical and system solutions, compliant with requirements within agreed programme budgets and timescales. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to be able to interact with SMEs and End Users of various nationalities regarding a wide range of technical and operational topics. Be a self-motivated leader and team player capable of working with minimum direction. Desirable Experience: As a particular focus area for this role, the candidate should have experience and competence in the field of semi-active laser guidance. What you’ll do The Chief Systems Engineer acts as the focal point for Systems Engineering Governance and ensures our Systems Engineering capability trends in a positive direction. The role will provide a clear point of contact on Systems Engineering capability for the Business Area Head of Engineering Projects, Chief Engineer and will report to the Line of Business Head of Systems Engineering. Reporting to a Project Engineering Manager, the Project Engineering Lead contributes to the monthly engineering governance cycle through preparation of engineering status reports. Project Engineering Leads build strong relationships with Engineering Functional Leads to ensure the resourcing plans for their projects are realistic and any issues arising are resolved swiftly. Project Engineering Leads play a key role in business winning activities, coordinating the collection of engineering costs, preparation of engineering plans and holding engineering bid reviews. The role requires a candidate who is self-motivated, proactive and enthusiastic, with strong leadership and communication skills. The ability to foster and develop effective working relationships is key to ensure engineers perform to the levels required of the projects. A strong product design, commercial and business awareness is also essential to ensure that the engineering effort can be managed in the correct context for each given project. Key Responsibility Areas Engineering Delivery Project Engineering Leads manage multi-disciplined engineering team across multiple projects. Working closely with project managers and project engineering managers, they are responsible for delivery of the overall engineering output against time, cost and performance budgets. They are accountable for engineering decision-making within the project, including leading cross-discipline trade-offs and resolution of complex technical issues. They drive design maturity and lead engineering design reviews. Planning and Risk Management Project Engineering Leads are responsible for generating clear and relevant engineering plans, establishing key milestones and identifying risks, opportunities and inter-dependencies. They are responsible for reviewing the current engineering positions on projects, and adapting plans as required to mitigate risks to either cost, schedule or performance budgets. Stakeholder Management Project Engineering Leads prepare and communicate monthly engineering status reports for each of their assigned projects into their line manager. Business Winning Project Engineering Leads are responsible for the coordination of engineering input into bids as part of the business winning process. Leadership Project Engineering Leads line manage a multi-disciplinary team or engineers, playing an active role in their career development.
