What you will do as Quality Engineer: Partner with Operations, Programmes, and Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) to ensure products are delivered compliantly, on time, and within budget. Drive continuous improvement by leading root cause analysis and promoting a culture of proactive problem-solving that reduces non-conformance costs. Provide expert Quality guidance to help teams meet shared business and programme objectives. Lead and support quality improvement initiatives, including KPI performance related to quality notifications (QNs), Material Review Boards (MRBs), and Failure Review Boards (FRBs). Co-ordinate, support and report in 8D investigations to help identify RCCA. Support the planning, execution, and verification of quality activities across all project phases. Oversee the timely processing of concessions, non-conformances, and production permits. Help achieve key assurance milestones, ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory standards. Prepare quality reports and data analysis for stakeholders, turning insights into actionable improvement plans. Conduct internal audits to assess adherence to processes and procedures Look to identify areas for process and product improvement through deployment of Six Sigma projects and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) activities. What you’ll bring Working at an engineer level we want: A background in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Defence Electronics, or another technically demanding field. Awareness of AS9100 / ISO9001 Quality Management Systems. Awareness of Quality tools and techniques, including Root Cause Corrective Action, Process Mapping, First Article Inspection (FAI). Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, and a commitment to an inclusive, team-focused culture. A passion for continuous improvement, learning, and personal development. Willingness to drive improvements and reduce process waste. Working at a senior engineer level we want: A background in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Defence Electronics, or another technically demanding field. Working knowledge of AS9100 / ISO9001 Quality Management Systems. Familiarity with Quality tools and techniques, including Root Cause Corrective Action, Process Mapping, First Article Inspection (FAI). Experience in high-precision or complex manufacturing environments, ideally within aerospace, defence, or similar sectors. Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, and a commitment to an inclusive, team-focused culture. A passion for continuous improvement, learning, and personal development. Willingness to drive improvements and reduce process waste. Experience in Lean manufacturing and VSM would be advantages. Your Impact Leonardo UK Ltd is seeking a Customs Compliance Operations Lead to work within its Trade Compliance Function to support the management and control of all aspects of UK Customs and UK Export Controls, and Compliance. As the Customs Compliance Operations Lead you will provide business support services including advice and guidance to Leonardo Helicopters functions to ensure the company remains compliant with Customs and Excise Management Act, UK Export Control laws, US Export Control laws and other relevant laws and regulations. Leonardo fully supports flexible/home working. With a home base from Leonardo UK’s Yeovil facility, and a requirement to be on site 3 days a week as a minimum the role will involve some UK travel and possibly international travel. Reporting to the Head of Customs Compliance Helicopters, this role is responsible for the following: Leading business partnering with Leonardo's preferred Broker – sets, aligns and signs-off on documented working processes Sets defined declaration and clearance audit processes Leads broker management incl. undertaking logistics and service procurement partnering – monitoring KPIs and setting Broker monitoring/audit processes. Manages operational customs authorisations, accounts – SCDP, EIDR, deferment account etc through defined processes and controls. Manage all the operational requirements for import and export declarations with nominated Broker Sets formal plans and implements process changes/new process in line with business /technical changes. Team set-up with protocols to respond to frontier issues. Point of contact for customs queries from the wider business stakeholders on the operational customs processes. What you'll bring The successful candidate will have good proven personal and interpersonal, organisational, time management and planning skills, as well as the ability to work within a multi- functional team. The ability to make independent decisions, demonstrating good problem solving, negotiating and influencing/mediating skills is essential, as are the drive and determination to achieve objectives. The following skills and experience are required: Educated to a degree level, or hold a professional qualification, and at least 5 years’ demonstrable licencing and audit experience An experienced practitioner with An in-depth and detailed knowledge of UK Customs & Export Control laws and regulations. Prior involvement in regulatory audits. Strong interpersonal/influencing skills to support decision-making based on credible knowledge of Licensing and International Trade. Presentation skills in order to deliver training Good all round computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications Meeting management skills (organise, chair, record, action) This is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above.
