Your Impact This Systems Engineering vacancy presents an exciting opportunity to be part of the Captor Radar Mark 2 Systems Test Solution (STS) team. The role is that of Principal Systems Engineer, where you will be an integral part of the Engineering team that is designing, integrating, testing and delivering the latest cutting-edge Captor Radar Test Equipment, hosted both in the Edinburgh Rooflab environment and offsite Customer facilities. The types of activities to be performed include: System & Sub-system Requirements capture, flow down, verification and validation. Heavily involved in the Life Cycle Management aspect of the project. Assist with PDR, CDR and TRR preparation and delivery, whilst ensuring the company process are adhered to and all TCU records are kept up to date. Regular reporting into the STS PEL, providing technical updates on a regular basis. What you’ll bring Degree qualified or relevant work experience in given field. Strong and diverse Engineering background. Solid knowledge of the full design life cycle process, including V&V principles. Ideally has experience of Cameo Systems Modeler and DOORS tools, working in an Agile environment. Ability to work with and influence others in a dynamic and fast paced environment. Ability to make informed decisions based on obtaining information from the relevant technical sources. An excellent and confident communicator and presenter, with the ability to engage with and influence multiple internal and external stakeholders. Ability to effectively manage own time, potentially across multiple activities. Excellent literacy and numeracy skills. Travel within the UK & Europe, if required. The Opportunity Your Impact Here at Leonardo, we are seeking experienced Lead Software Engineers to take on pivotal Technical Authority roles within our Integrated Sensors & Protection line of business, working on a range of defence projects. This role combines technical leadership with strategic influence, offering significant autonomy and responsibility for critical software components or entire projects. Direct industry experience is not required; we are happy to explore all backgrounds and help develop all our software engineers. What you will do: We want to develop a new generation of features and capabilities using innovative software solutions and we need you to create them. You will be a key part in a community of world-class software engineers who will continuously improve, collaborate and innovate with other engineers to create market-leading products within the defence industry. What You'll Bring: Understanding and knowledge of one or more of the following: Several years of C++ software engineering experience in aerospace, defence, or other mission/safety-critical domains. Experience with developing Windows & Linux applications. Experience of using Iterative development lifecycles (for example tailored Agile.)
