Key Responsibilities To take over existing operations instrument activities, currently provided by ESAC and integrate them into the FCT at ESOC. • maintain the instrument procedures (develop, change & test) • maintain the instrument database (develop, change & test) • perform instrument anomaly recoveries • perform special operations support for instruments (eclipse operations, and development of automation activities to streamline the work of the Real-Time-Operations team • support the calibration and mission planning teams at ESAC for operations • provision of On-call support • Execute real-time payload operations • Perform maintenance of instruments and observing modes • Perform maintenance of the instrument onboard software • support the instrument health and performance monitoring • execute offline instrument monitoring/trend analysis • interfacing with instrument Principal Investigators for operational issues To be a proactive key-team member to modernise existing operational activities while transferring them and introduce modern tools, to optimise the processes and operational efficiencies. Essential Skills and Qualifications • University degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering • Spacecraft Payload and Platform subsystem knowledge • Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations. • Fluency in English, both spoken and writing. • Coordination with other service providers in operations (team player) • Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS-2000 • Experience in the generation of Flight Procedures and validation Desirable Skills Familiarity with the ESOC environment. As a full member of our dedicated Metop Operations team, you will deliver state-of-the-art spacecraft operations for the Metop series of satellites within the EUMETSAT Polar System (EPS), supporting the transition towards the next generation EPS-SG / Metop-SG programme. Key Responsibilities: Plan and execute routine and non-routine spacecraft operations, including recovery operations following anomalies Investigate spacecraft anomalies, perform trend analysis, and monitor subsystem and instrument performance Develop, validate, and maintain flight procedures and operations documentation Contribute to the preparation, commissioning, and operational readiness of upcoming missions and activities Design and validate innovative operational tools to enhance mission efficiency Identify and support the implementation of system and process improvements within the team Participate in simulation campaigns, training exercises, and rotational on-call support Qualifications/Experience You hold a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related area. You have several years of experience working in spacecraft operations and operations preparation, including ground segment and spacecraft operations validation (e.g. SVTs) and simulations and training.
