seniorfull time10001+Aerospace & DefenseenglishJob Description: Telespazio Germany is looking to for an experienced Space Link Communication Engineer to expand our on-site presence in the area of Ground segment system Engineering and support our client ESA for their cutting-edge ground station network ESTRACK. The future post holder will participate in the preparation of ESTRACK for upcoming missions and support to the flying ones in aspects related to the ground station engineering and space link communications and tracking, approached from a system perspective. Responsibilities / Tasks The daily tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Active participation in ground station developments, i.e. new antenna projects and upgrade of existing antennas, by providing support to the definition of technical specifications and statement of works, participation to procurement in the role of expert, support to design reviews as well as support to factory and site acceptance tests and supporting preventive, predictive and corrective maintenances. Design and documentation creation and review (Statement of Work, Technical Specifications, technical trade-offs, Technical Notes) Monitoring of ground station data provision and archiving, providing performance assessments in response to operational incidents. Deployment, testing and validation of technical solutions in ESA operational sites. Support to operations during critical phases. Monitoring of applicable scientific and technological trends and maintaining state-of-the-art expertise in the specific technical domain Active participation in technology development activities, i.e. support to the definition of requirements, support in preliminary prototype and bread boarding activities, support to the evaluation of achievements. Active participation in studies of new operational concepts and techniques (e.g. use of weather forecast for link optimisation) Support to development of link budget tools Space link performance monitoring and assessment. ESTRACK data management: supervision of production, archiving and dissemination of ESTRACK sub-systems data. Qualifications Essential Skills University degree in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunication, or similar Knowledge in the ground station domain: ground stations architecture and design Experience in: ground station systems engineering. development and upgrade of complex systems, including testing and validation communication systems involving e.g. modulation, demodulation, coding techniques, signal/data processing. TT&C systems and their interfaces. Experience of programming: e.g. Python, C++, Matlab. Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Good planning and organisational skills Ability to work independently to multi-task efficiently and setting priorities Availability to travel (depending on mission, working across global sites as required) Desirable Skills Familiarity with the ESTRACK and ESOC environment: processes, configuration control Familiarity with radio propagation over different media.
