YOUR ROLE The Automation Technician is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing automation equipment and control systems to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. This role includes working with mechanical, electrical, and software-related systems to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimal downtime. Key Responsibilities * Install, configure, and optimize automation equipment and control systems. * Troubleshoot and repair issues related to automation equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and software malfunctions. * Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated equipment to avoid breakdowns and maintain performance. * Program and configure automation devices, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), robotic systems, and other control platforms. * Update software and firmware as required to improve system functionality and support new manufacturing requirements. * Test automated systems to ensure proper operation, efficiency, and compliance with performance standards. * Calibrate sensors, actuators, and related components to ensure accurate measurements and reliable operation. * Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, system performance, downtime, and incidents. * Provide periodic updates on system efficiency, downtime, and technical issues encountered. * Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to support troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical and software-related issues. Qualifications and Experience * Diploma in Automation Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. * Knowledge of automation software and control systems, including PLCs and HMIs. * Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, including the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. * Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial equipment. * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve automation-related issues effectively. * Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with automation, operations, DIT, and vendor teams. YOUR ROLE We are seeking a forward-thinking Automation Engineer to design and implement next-generation automated systems. Our focus is on "Balanced Automation"—integrating traditional hardware (PLCs, robotics) with AI-powered reasoning and real-time data pipelines to drive operational excellence. You will move beyond simple script execution to architecting resilient, scalable ecosystems that bridge the physical and digital worlds. * System Architecture: Design and deploy end-to-end automation frameworks integrating PLC, and Industrial IoT (IIoT) systems. * AI & Agentic Integration: Orchestrate AI agents to the existing tools to simplify the routine tasks. * Develop and maintain automated devices for machine/process monitoring including dashboard for KPI monitoring. * Predictive Maintenance: Implement machine learning-based monitoring systems to detect anomalies and reduce unplanned downtime. YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCES * Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. * Proficiency in Python, Java, or C/C++. * Must possess strong systems thinking skills, with the ability to analyze how individual components interact within a larger organizational or technical ecosystem. * Systems thinker who can anticipate upstream and downstream impacts, effectively balancing short-term fixes with long-term, holistic outcomes. * Strong analytical problem-solving and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders ST is proud to be one of the 17 companies certified as a 2025 Global Top Employer and the first and only semiconductor company to achieve this distinction.
