We are looking for a Senior Robotics Engineer to join our R&D team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between embedded hardware and advanced robotic systems, designing and developing the firmware and libraries that allow our microcontrollers to drive the next generation of open-source robotics. Whether optimizing Zephyr RTOS for real-time control or integrating micro-ROS, you will be a key asset in maintaining our high standards for developers and creators worldwide. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. • 2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc. What you'll work on ● Integrate Arduino microcontrollers and embedded platforms with industry-standard robotics ecosystems (e.g., ROS, ROS 2, micro-ROS). ● Prototype robotic product solutions from research through to production, ensuring hardware and software harmonize perfectly. ● Design, develop, code, test, and debug embedded firmware (C/C++) with a focus on robotics applications, including motor control, actuator management, and sensor data acquisition. ● Work effectively with cross-functional teams including hardware, application software, Quality Assurance, and product management to define requirements, integrate components, and deliver high-quality products. ● Represent Arduino at internal / external events and share our spirit with the developers community What you bring ● Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field. ● Hands-on experience developing nodes and architectures using ROS 2 and micro-ROS. ● Familiarity with robotic middleware communication patterns (Pub/Sub, Services, Actions, DDS). ● Deep understanding of motor control techniques and hardware, specifically for BLDC (Brushless DC) motors, stepper motors, and servos. ● Familiarity with core autonomous navigation concepts, such as SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping). ● Experience integrating and processing data from environmental sensors like LiDAR, Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors, cameras and MEMS. ● Strong proficiency in C and/or C++ for resource-constrained embedded systems ● Extensive experience with hardware interfaces and protocols crucial to robotics (e.g., CAN bus, I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet, GPIO). ● Fluent in English both verbal and written is mandatory Bonus Points ● Knowledge of the Arduino and Zephyr ecosystem ● Knowledge of IoT Protocols (MQTT, CoAP, HTTP, TCP, UDP, AMQP). ● Experience with hardware debugging and tools like JTAG/SWD. ● Experience with Python and Golang and/or Rust ● Experience with simulators and physics engines (Gazebo, pyBullet, Mujoco) ● Experience with machine vision frameworks and deep learning frameworks ● Experience with containerization and orchestration for fleet management ● Knowledge of Github ● Knowledge of CAD/CAM and digital fabrication If you're excited about this role or about our company but your experience doesn't align perfectly with the points outlined above, we strongly encourage you to apply anyways. YOUR ROLE Join our MEMS Software Solutions team! We are looking for an intern focused on the end-to-end development of an AI agent dedicated to technical support for ST MEMS sensors and related software (drivers, libraries, GUIs, configuration tools, documentation, etc.). The goal of the internship is to design and implement an AI assistance system that integrates heterogeneous information sources (technical documentation, FAQs, code examples, application notes) and automation workflows to provide contextual and actionable answers to customers and internal support teams. The main activities will be: * Requirements analysis for the AI agent supporting MEMS sensors (question types, use cases, required integrations) * Architectural design of the AI agent system (workflows, components, integrations with APIs and document repositories) * Integration of AI models (LLMs / language models and retrieval tools) to understand user queries, search for information in technical documentation, generate structured and technically sound answers * Content ingestion and preparation: collection and organization of datasheets, application notes, user manuals, FAQs, definition of indexing/embedding and retrieval (RAG) strategies * Development of backend workflows and services to orchestrate AI calls, query data sources (databases, file systems, internal APIs), and log requests and responses for later analysis * Development of access interfaces to the agent (e.g. REST APIs, a simple web frontend / GUI or integration into existing tools) * Definition and implementation of tests (functional and regression) to validate the technical correctness of answers, and verify robustness and reliability of workflows and services * Monitoring and continuous improvement of the AI agent: analysis of real interactions, prompt tuning and refinement of retrieval pipelines, performance optimization (latency, cost, answer quality) * Documentation of the developed solutions (architecture, workflows, usage and maintenance best practices) * Build and deploy intelligent AI agents using Python, optimizing memory, and reasoning YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCES * Undergraduates or recent graduates in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic / Automation Engineering, Data Science, AI, or equivalents in the STEM field * Experience with Python or other scripting languages for test automation * Good knowledge of C++ programming language * Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, web services, and system integration concepts * Interest and basic theoretical background in Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning, in particular language models, classification, information retrieval, or RAG techniques * Ability to read and understand technical documentation in embedded / electronics domains (sensors, microcontrollers, communication protocols) * Proficient in debugging tools, version control systems (e.g., Git), and CI/CD pipelines * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Good communication and writing skills * Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team ST is proud to be one of the 17 companies certified as a 2025 Global Top Employer and the first and only semiconductor company to achieve this distinction.
