In this role, you will be a key player in building the next generation of our digital shopping marketplace. You’ll work with massive datasets and cutting-edge technologies like Spark, Kafka, and AWS to ingest, process, and distribute data at scale. We need someone who doesn't just "move data" but treats data infrastructure as a product, enabling Data Scientists and Analysts to make informed, high-impact decisions. WHAT YOU WILL DO 🏄 Join a team of talented data engineers who use cutting-edge big data technologies to solve impactful business problems. Work directly with Engineering, Data Science & Data Analysts teams to create both real-time streaming and batch data pipelines that power data driven decisions across the organization. Improve and maintain our data warehousing solutions and deliver trusted and easy-to-use datasets to both internal & external stakeholders. Participate in design discussions with other team members and find innovative solutions to new and existing business problems. Develop and enhance continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for the team. Explore new technology options for data processing, storage, and share them with the team. Develop tools and contribute to internal & open source projects wherever possible. WHAT YOU WILL NEED 🪄 Bachelor’s degree Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent. 2+ years of work experience in building data pipelines ingesting and transforming large data sets. 2+ years of work experience in big data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Airflow, etc. Work experience in one or more general purpose programming languages, preferably Scala, Python. Track record of shipping quality code and delivering high quality features. In this role, you will own and extend the high-throughput, low-latency backend systems, event-driven architectures, and distributed data pipelines powering 1P, 2P, and 3P audience data for Flipp and Shopfully. We are looking for a high-autonomy senior contributor who doesn't just write code, but owns production services end-to-end, drives system design decisions, scales core tables running into tens of billions of rows, and leverages cutting-edge AI tools to maximize engineering throughput. If you are passionate about backend engineering, low-latency architectures, data at scale, and ad-tech innovation, this role is for you! WHAT YOU WILL DO 🏄 Own & Extend the Audience Platform: Architect, build, and scale core backend systems including the Audience API, Audience Kafka Topics, User Profile API, Audience Management UI, and 2P/3P data ingestion infrastructure. Drive Integrations & Data Pipelines: Build and maintain high-volume activation platform integrations (e.g., DV360, Braze, TTD) and collaborate on Databricks segmentation pipelines and core data tables running into tens of billions of rows. Ensure High Performance & Observability: Design and operate low-latency, high-throughput microservices using Go, gRPC/Protobuf, and REST+OpenAPI, maintaining end-to-end service observability and APM via Datadog and Datadog OnCall. Support ML & AI Workstreams : Partner with Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientists to support models (IAB Segmentation Model, Retailer/Category Affinity Segments) and integrate AI-assisted development practices (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) into day-to-day engineering workflows. Privacy & Compliance: Plan and execute technical initiatives with strict adherence to data regulatory laws (GDPR, CCPA, consent management).
