The role can be based in either Southampton or Bristol and will focus on the electronics design of the RF and control subsystems; to be implemented on laboratory and aircraft concept demonstrators. You will provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle including design implementation, integration and test, system trials and product delivery. You will be part of the Leonardo Airborne Communications product development group within the Integrated Sensing & Protection line of business; interacting with partner organisations / sub-contractors and potential customers. Your Impact: You will be responsible for delivery of work packages focused on analogue and RF electronics, covering the inter vehicle data link design, system test and integration. Modelling of proposed architectures to determine the optimal solution. Simulation of RF design. Documentation of design including configuration management within Teamcenter. Support laboratory hardware demonstrator development and test. What we are looking for Practical hands on experience of RF design of circuitry, ideally between DC and 30 GHz, but if you don’t have experience over this whole range then we’d still be interested to hear from you. Experience of working with PCB layout personnel in an advisory capacity. Hands on experience of using RF test and measurement equipment to develop and debug RF circuitry. Ability to use RF and system modelling and simulation tools. Ability to produce concise technical reports detailing design solutions and implementation. Ability to understand and follow the business practices, such as design reviews, which come with working in a high technology defence environment. Degree in relevant engineering or related scientific discipline (Electronics Engineering preferred). As part of an electromechanical project, be willing to work closely with the mechanical team members to create a solution which addresses all design requirements. Support Antenna and Electromagnetic measurement campaigns to validate models and designs. Technical assessment and modelling of system or subsystem design to ensure compatibility with overall system performance. Work with antenna test engineers to define test procedures, create test and analysis plans, report results in a variety of formats e.g. formal reports, automated reports and presentations. Contribute to the planning and progress reports of both development and production antenna test activities. What you’ll bring Degree in a STEM subject (Physics, Mathematics, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, System Engineering, or another science-based subject). Experience / Education in at least one of the following areas of Electromagnetics: Antenna design/modelling/measurement, Computational Electromagnetic Modelling (CEM), Radio frequency (RF) design, Microwave engineering, Low Observables (LO) or Stealth Technology. Excellent numerical problem-solving skills and an aptitude for lateral thinking. Working knowledge of MATLAB to perform analysis of results. Knowledge of other scripting/programming languages may be considered if it suggests an easy adaptation to MATLAB. Scopo di questa tesi è lo studio, complementato dallo sviluppo, di un software di controllo di un velivolo sintetico basato su un modello di intelligenza artificiale addestrato con tecniche di Reinforcement Learning. Il controllo di volo è usualmente dominato dalle logiche PID (Proporzionale-Integrale-Derivativo), sebbene efficaci, questi sistemi presentano limiti che il Reinforcement Learning (RL) punta a superare. Un modello RL ha la capacità di apprendere direttamente dall’interazione con l’ambiente e di costruire una rappresentazione implicita di queste dinamiche, riuscendo a catturare comportamenti complessi. A differenza dei parametri fissi di un PID, un agente RL può apprendere una politica di controllo capace di gestire una maggiore varietà di condizioni operative. Grazie all’addestramento in ambienti simulati che includono scenari variabili, l’agente può sviluppare tecniche di controllo più robuste migliorando la stabilità e le prestazioni del sistema. Mentre un PID si focalizza sul ridurre un errore (es. mantenere la quota), il RL può essere addestrato per massimizzare una funzione di ricompensa complessa che integra diversi criteri di prestazione all’interno dello stesso processo di apprendimento. In questo modo, l’agente può essere addestrato a trovare le migliori politiche di controllo che bilancino simultaneamente diversi fattori operativi, come la precisione nel seguire una traiettoria desiderata, il risparmio di carburante e l’integrità strutturale. L’obiettivo principale di questa tesi è la progettazione e l'implementazione di un agente intelligente capace di gestire il controllo dinamico di un velivolo sintetico. Il lavoro si articolerà nelle seguenti fasi: Analisi dei prodotti commerciali ed integrazione: Studio dei simulatori di volo disponibili sul mercato (es. X-Plane 12 o DCS World) come motori di fisica. YOUR ROLE The position is aimed at Mixed Signal verification engineer with previous experience in analog on top mixed simulations of ASIC. The candidate will join the Mixed verification team of MEMS GROUP and will have the opportunity to see all the ASIC verification process from specification definition up to final product industrialization. Your responsibilities include definition and development of verification test bench, development of verification components, test case development for simulation, debugging failures and creating simulation cases for various studies. As an experienced professional, work with the cutting-edge verification methodologies on Subsystem level and SoC level. The position is open on both Castelletto (Italy) and Toulouse (France) sites. We are looking for Senior Profiles/Team Leader. Your Skills & Experiences The preferred seniority is 3 to 5 years of experience. * The ideal candidate has a good knowledge of Analog custom circuit (e.g., ADC, DAC, comparators, ...), Analog, digital and mixed-signal simulation environments and tools, Bugs analysis and reporting, Analog SystemVerilog Assertions. * Basic knowledge of Modeling languages such as System Verilog RNM, Verilog-AMS, Analog Model definition and implementation, Analog Model verification and validation, Coverage, Digital logic gates, Scripting languages like python, Unified Power Format (UPF) applied to mixed-signal simulations is a plus. * A plus will be considered the knowledge of SystemVerilog and UVM methodology, tools and environments for mixed-signal simulations Cadence based, Communication protocols in mixed simulations (e.g. I2C, SPI and I3C), Formal tools for top-level connectivity, Version control system. The candidate has also soft skills such as good communication, fluently in English, team working and collaboration across all the entire MEMS GROUP Design team.
