As part of Global Technology R&D, we are the Package and Assembly R&D (P&AT R&D), a team of about 80 people based in Agrate. P&AT R&D is in charge of developing new packages and related assembly technologies to cover a wide range of ST products portfolio. The candidate will work in close cooperation with members of Design, PMO and Modeling team to deploy an AI-powered tool for risk assessment on QFN package family. This thesis project is part of a Corporate-level Key Program aimed to optimize current R&D workflows through AI-based tools. The project offers strong visibility with high potential business impact. During this 6-12 month thesis you will have the opportunity to: \- work at the intersection of AI, data, and semiconductor R&D; \- contribute to a cutting-edge Proof of Value (PoV); \- explore how AI can support risk management and engineering decision-making in practice; Develop an AI-powered Proof of Value (PoV) for semiconductor package risk assessment. Work on a real industrial challenge: help engineers identify risks earlier, suggest mitigation actions and support validation planning for new semiconductor package developments. You will combine knowledge retrieval, data science, machine learning, and real engineering data to build and test a smart workflow based on sparse historical information and reference projects. The main technology platform involved will be Quad-Flat-No-leads (QFN), a lead frame based semiconductor product used in high-end applications.
