A propos de vos missions Dans le cadre du développement de transistors bipolaires avancés, la caractérisation des matériaux à l’échelle atomique constitue un enjeu majeur. En effet, les niveaux de dopage du silicium doivent être strictement contrôlés à des échelles où l’utilisation de certaines techniques de caractérisation n’est pas possible. Pour répondre à cette problématique, ST collabore avec l’IM2NP afin de développer une expertise en sonde atomique tomographique (SAT). L’acquisition récente d’un équipement de dernière génération à l’IM2NP permet d’envisager l’étude de structures de plus en plus complexes, jusqu’au transistor bipolaire. Le travail de thèse proposé s’articule autour de deux axes principaux. Le premier axe concerne le développement de méthodologies pour l’analyse de transistors bipolaires par SAT, d’abord sur des structures simples (empilement de couches), puis sur des transistors réels. Le second axe vise à établir un lien entre la technique SAT et la microscopie électronique en transmission (TEM), technique de référence dans le développement de nouvelles technologies. Il s’agira d’élaborer un protocole permettant d’observer un échantillon de manière non destructive en TEM (morphologie et analyses chimiques), puis de procéder à son évaporation en SAT. Ces objectifs impliquent la maîtrise de la préparation des échantillons et la mise en œuvre de la caractérisation par SAT. Les caractérisations en TEM seront réalisées en collaboration avec les experts de ST, une fois qu’une méthodologie de préparation robuste aura été établie. Pour mener à bien ces missions, la thèse se déroulera principalement au sein de la plateforme sonde atomique tomographique de l’IM2NP à Marseille, avec des missions ponctuelles sur le site de ST à Crolles.
