    Job Description: Role Overview: The Test Engineer will support the verification and validation activities of the EPS-Sterna Ground Segment and System, ensuring that system functionalities and performances meet mission requirements. The role involves preparing, organising, and executing test campaigns across different levels of the system lifecycle, contributing directly to system validation and acceptance. This position requires a hands-on engineer who is comfortable working directly with systems, test environments, and tools, and who can actively contribute to the setup, execution, and troubleshooting of tests. A key aspect of the role is the preparation, handling, and analysis of test data, particularly in the context of payload data processing systems, where the ability to manipulate and interpret large and complex datasets is essential. The engineer will also contribute to the development of test documentation, the preparation of test tools and datasets, and the investigation and resolution of anomalies in close coordination with system and software teams. In parallel, the role includes identifying opportunities for improving efficiency through test automation and streamlined processes. The position requires a structured and proactive approach, the ability to work under time constraints, and strong collaboration and communication skills to operate effectively within a multi-disciplinary environment. DUTIES: Perform preparation of test activities, organise test campaigns and execute tests for the EPS-Sterna Ground Segment and System; Contribute organisation of TRR/TRBs for the tests assigned to him/her as necessary; Prepare test documentation, i.e. specifications, procedures, reports as necessary; Prepare system and ground segment test tools and test data for the tests assigned to him/her for execution, as necessary; Contribute to the functional and non-functional verification, system performances verification and system validation; Seek for automation opportunities for the test execution and support their implementation as necessary.     Job Description: We are recruiting a Spacecraft Operations Engineer to join our team working on-site at EUMETSAT's premises in Darmstadt, supporting two of Europe's most critical meteorological satellite programmes i.e Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) and Meteosat Third Generation (MTG). This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the heart of European Earth observation, with direct impact on the quality and continuity of meteorological data services that support weather forecasting and climate monitoring across Europe and beyond. Key Responsibilities Routine Mission Operations You will be an active member of the spacecraft operations team, taking hands-on responsibility for the day-to-day care of Meteosat satellites in orbit. This means much more than routine monitoring; you will be involved in the full operational lifecycle of the spacecraft, from keeping the mission running smoothly today to helping shape how it runs tomorrow. Key Responsibilities 1\. Equipment Ownership & Uptime * Serve as primary owner for assigned tools, such as Trymax and Axcelis tools * Maintain and continuously improve OEE, MTBF, and MTTR targets. * Develop and maintain equipment health monitoring and baseline control (SPC, FDC, fault codes, alarms). * Drive daily tool performance reviews, documenting issues, actions, and recovery plans. 2\. Maintenance & Troubleshooting * Plan, execute, and optimize preventive maintenance (PM) activities according to OEM recommendations and fab strategies. * Perform complex troubleshooting on electrical, mechanical, vacuum, RF, gas delivery, and software subsystems. * Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for chronic and high‑impact issues using structured methods (8D, Fishbone, 5‑Why, etc.). * Coordinate and supervise vendor field service engineers (FSEs) and contractors during major interventions, upgrades, and rebuilds. 3\. Process / Equipment Interaction * Work closely with process engineering to ensure equipment performance supports CD, profile, uniformity, selectivity, and defectivity requirements. * Analyze tool logs, SPC charts, metrology data, and wafer maps to correlate equipment conditions with yield and parametric performance. * Support process qualifications, chamber swaps, hardware changes, and recipe releases. * Ensure correct implementation and maintenance of chamber matching between AMAT and TEL tools. 4\. Continuous Improvement & Cost Reduction * Identify and implement improvement projects to increase uptime, extend parts lifetime, and reduce operating cost. * Optimize consumables usage and spare parts strategy (buffer stock, repair vs. replace, refurbishment plans). * Participate in or lead CIP / Lean / Six Sigma projects for productivity and quality enhancement. * Support capacity upgrades (chamber additions, throughput improvement, software enhancements). 5\. Documentation, Procedure & Training * Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides for AMAT SuperE, AMAT DPS. * Document all events, alarms, interventions, and changes in the equipment history system (EHS/CMMS). * Provide technical training and coaching to equipment technicians, junior engineers, and shift personnel. * Ensure compliance with change management process for hardware, software, and recipe modifications. 6\. Safety & Compliance * Ensure all activities follow EHS regulations, company safety rules, and cleanroom protocols. * Conduct and support risk assessments, LOTO procedures, and safety audits for gas, chemical, RF, and high‑voltage systems. * Support compliance with ISO/Automotive/Quality Management Systems as applicable. YOUR ROLE * Manage a cost-effective wafer fabrication process by providing engineering support to the production line to achieve the organization’s targeted manufacturing performance. YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCES * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. * Around 2 years of experience with trench etch processes and the associated challenges, including profile control and process stability. * Ability to conduct real-time problem analysis for SPC OOC/OOS, defect failures, and FDC failures, and determine appropriate solutions by working with all relevant stakeholders. * Ensure all basic inline investigations are reported in real time to the relevant owners with complete and accurate details. * Ability to set up process recipes for newly introduced processes. * Ability to establish a robust process control system to maintain the lowest possible Wafer at Risk (WAR) level, maximize the signal-to-noise ratio for SPC and FDC, and minimize human dependency.
