Your impact We are looking for a Sub‑Contract Buyer to join our Procurement team in Edinburgh, supporting our Radar Surveillance line of business. This is a key role within our Aftermarket & Support function, where your work will directly enable long‑term customer support and programme success. You will partner closely with cross‑functional teams to shape procurement strategies, tackle complex supply‑chain challenges, and make a visible impact across high‑profile programmes. The role follows a hybrid working model, with a minimum of three days per week based onsite in Edinburgh and up to two days remote. What you’ll bring Act as the procurement lead within cross-functional teams, working closely with engineering, production, commercial, and project colleagues Contribute to procurement strategies throughout the full project lifecycle, working closely with the production procurement team to identify joint opportunities Support defining long-term sourcing strategies with suppliers Drive supplier performance through regular engagement, business reviews, and proactive risk management Accountable for the programme product total material cost and for the procurement plan Within IPTs, manage procurement activities within the project: prepare and update the Project Procurement Plan, manage purchases and suppliers, manage expediting for the Line of Business (LoB), certify and manage external costs during the contractual phase, and verify the consistency of purchase requests with demand planning Act as the point of reference in managing procurement orders and demand control for the Business Manage end-to-end sourcing tasks, including Requests for Quotation (RFQ) and Purchase Order (PO) placement, using SAP Translate overall Business plans into a long-term forecast Provide insightful analysis of material pricing to support Product Cost Review Boards, identifying opportunities for cost optimisation aligned with project targets Perform pricing and risk analysis using Excel, working with data across multiple files and sources Contribute to a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across the function Support and administer contracts and contractual documentation, working with procurement manager. What you'll do as a BOM Controller: Maintenance of the assembly Bills of Material and Material Master Data within the company databases, ensuring readiness for production. In this highly visible and strategically critical position , you will provide technical direction and leadership to an exceptionally talented team of multi-disciplined engineers spanning multiple programmes, including Team Tempest, the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) and other classified activities. Together, these programmes are shaping the future of the RAF’s next‑generation fighter aircraft. This role requires primarily on-site working at our Capability Green site in Luton due to national security considerations, with occasional UK and international travel. You must already hold, or be eligible to obtain, Developed Vetting (DV) National Security clearance. What you will do as a Sector Chief Engineer : The Sector Chief Engineer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide overall technical leadership and authority across FCA engineering activities. Ensure engineering outputs meet customer requirements and comply with company engineering processes and safety, security, and airworthiness regulatory requirements. Set the technical direction through leadership of System Design Authorities (SDA), Systems Architects, and Technical Specialists. Lead, mentor, develop and recruit the SDA technical community and chair the FCA Chief Engineers Forum. Act as the senior technical reviewer and authorised signatory within FCA. Represent Leonardo in senior-level government customer and industry partner engagements. Lead complex technical investigations and resolve technical conflicts and priorities. Drive design commonality, reuse, and modularity across all engineering disciplines, ensuring that the highest levels of Engineering standards are maintained and the integrity of design solutions are assured Shape technology and product roadmaps in collaboration with Design Integrity, Capability Management and external customers. Champion continuous engineering improvement and support strategic initiatives led by the VP Engineering (FCA). You Really Must Have: A Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering or a closely related discipline. A strong technical background in the design, qualification and certification of mission critical equipment. Significant depth of technical leadership experience spanning the entire engineering lifecycle, including systems and platform integration, and the application of relevant design assurance processes and standards. A structured approach to technical problem solving, excellent communication skills, and experience of providing technical leadership to engineering teams. Based on site in Edinburgh you will be part of the GCAP RATS Sector. As such, you will liaise closely with a large, well established Integrated Project Team (IPT) comprised of a multi-site cross-functional skillset of engineers and other professionals from across the business. This role will be focused on Technology Development and the underpinning activities that support the maturation of the 6th Gen differentiating elements of the GCAP MRFS concept What you’ll bring You will report directly to the Programme Manager on Development activities. You will be responsible for execution of Technology Demonstration Programmes and other key technology de-risking activities You will lead the IPT in the successful delivery of a compliant project in line with the Customer, Contractual and Legislative requirements.
